Under a large marquee set up in St-Pierre, Île d’Orléans, some 348 people took part in our extended family’s annual gathering on August 11 and 12, commemorating the 350th anniversary of the arrival of Marie Blanquet and Jean Leclerc.
Saturday was a day of reunion under the tent, starting with a hot dog lunch, followed by softball and pétanque in the afternoon. Entertainment was provided under the tent throughout the afternoon. Several participants visited the monument erected on the land where Jean Leclerc and Marie Blanquet lived, or went to see the many points of interest on the island. The dinner, served by a catering service, was enjoyed by all, and the evening began with the distribution of numerous door prizes. The celebration continued with a performance by Salomé Leclerc, followed by Gaétan Leclerc.
Sunday began with a ceremony commemorating our ancestors at the memorial monument, followed by a mass, the general meeting, and brunch.
