Last winter 2007, we were camping at "Travel World" in Clearwater, Florida. One day, I went to the Laundromat and met a lady who was knitting and waiting for her clothes to be done. To start a conversation, I asked her where she was from.
"Ontario", she said.
I told her that my father's family also came from Ontario and many years ago my grandmother lived in Mattice. Surprisingly, her husband is also native of that village. At that moment, he happened to be going by the Laundromat on his bike. I called out to him and he came over. His name was Hervé Rancourt.
I told him that my Lecerc family lived in Mattice once. One thought leading to another, gradually we discovered that my grandmother is also Hervé's great-aunt: Mrs. Ophilia (Bolduc) Leclerc, remarried to Mr. Luminé Rancourt, who was Hervé's grandfather's brother.
As I wanted to know more about my family, a few days later, I called my cousin, René (#413), who also informed me that we had an uncle from the Rancourt family still living in Montreal. He will introduce me to him at the next Leclerc reunion. swiss replica watches
In August 2007, my husband, my brother Donald (# 401) and I went to the LECLERC Family Reunion at "Oratory Saint-Joseph" in Montreal. As we were getting off the elevator with another couple, the gentleman said that he was not a Leclerc but a Rancourt.
"Are you Normand Rancourt?" I asked.
What a wonderful surprise! I told him that I was "Charlie Leclerc's daughter". Then we all walked together into the hall to meet my cousin René. It was such a thrill to have met each other.
Thank Hervé Rancourt for opening a new venue of my history.
I feel very proud of my heritage!
