An article in Le Clairon, Issue 1, page 3, Summer 2004
The Association of Leclerc Families has lain dormant since the death of Cyrille, thirty-three years ago. I felt it was my duty to pursue this monumental task - what has to be done, where do we start. We were, at the time, the pioneers of this kind of association, and I saw, sadly, no representation of the Leclerc family amongst the other founding families of Quebec, which presently numbers about one hundred and sixty associations.
With the help and encouragement of my grandsons, Nicolas and Jean-François, we took the initiative of contacting several people who were involved with the first Leclerc association, as well as others we felt would help to revive the group. We had many positive responses when we invited the group. More than fifty Leclercs responded to the call to form a board of directors. The committees that were formed are:
After hearing their proposals, the challenge of the new association will be to elaborate on the projects and activities to create an interest for the largest number of members in their desire to interact, fraternize and establish family connections, to share and develop our knowledge of the historical and cultural roots of the Leclercs. We will ensure that all future reunions are exciting, constructive and enriching. Reorganized, the Leclerc Family reunions will be awaited with impatience.
Hoping to have the pleasure of seeing you very soon at the reunions of all Leclerc families, please accept my best wishes.
Jean-Robert Leclerc
President of the Leclerc Families Association
