One of our members wins handily in the United States Elections.
Democrat Nancy Auclair wins the race for the Treasurer of York County in Maine by a 10,115 vote majority over three-term incumbent Republican James Atwood.
Nancy is a former Chief Financial Officer for the Seashore Trolley Museum in Arundel, previously was a corporate accountant in Springfield, Massachusetts, and a general accounting manager for a Massachusetts hospital. Her son, Robert Nadeau, is the elected Judge of Probate Court in York County.
Nancy will be sworn into office during the third week in December and will take office on January 1, 2007. She will be responsible for the entire payroll, accounts receivables and payables, bond issues and any other financial issues of York County, which serves 29 towns and cities in southern Maine.
Nancy Leighton-Auclair is the wife of Raymond Auclair of Kennebunk, Maine. Her long time interest has been genealogy and she has published a book recounting the Auclair family's journey from France to Quebec to the United States. Entitled "The Auclair Family Journey, 1666-2005", it has been on sale from selected dealers since October 2005. Nancy continues to work on the Auclair genealogy, many of whom carry the Leclerc name. The authors of this site have met with Nancy and Ray a few times to compare genealogical notes on the Leclerc name. She has already contributed to the site with a short biography on the life of Alphonse-Félix Auclair, the noted Senator from Rhode Island.
Our best wishes and continued success go out to Nancy from the members of the Association of Leclerc Families.
